Workers in UWR give government ultimatum

Wa, Jan. 20, (Pobia), GNA – Public sector workers in the Upper West Region have given government up to the end of January to either restore subsidies on petroleum products or they would advice themselves.

Representatives of all the local unions within the Wa Municipality in a communiqu=E9 submitted to government through the Secretary-General of TUC, the workers noted that National Petroleum Authority increased prices of petroleum products between 15 per cent and 30 percent within last year alone while government increase salary by only 20 percent.

The statement said the increase in prices of fuel had brought hardship to them and appealed to government to restore the subsidies to help alleviate further hardships on them and their family members who depended on them for survival.
