Workers expose deputy finance minister’s treachery

Workers of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MOFEP) are very angry.

Their anger stems out of the fact that one of the deputy Ministers, Madam Mona Helen K. Quartey, has been caught trying to undermine her boss, Mr. Seth Emmanuel Terpker.

Ms. Quartey took advantage of the absence of Mr. Terkper and wrote a letter purportedly on his behalf that certain payments which ought to be approved by cabinet should be paid without cabinet approval, this paper’s sources have hinted.

Credible information available from workers of the Ministry of Finance (names withheld), indicates that Minister Terkper has written cancelling his deputy’s unauthorized letter; in that, any payment to be paid to Bankswitch Ghana Limited will need cabinet approval.

According to the aggrieved workers, the conduct of Madam Mona Helen Quartey is one classic example of how some junior appointees of government undermine their superiors.

It would be recalled that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, in swearing in deputy ministers, warned them against undermining their higher-ups; and workers of the finance ministry are waiting to see the action the President will take on this blatant act of insubordination exhibited by Madam Mona Helen Quartey.
