Worker dies in AGC accident

Accra, Oct. 29, GNA – A worker of a company working at the Obuasi mine for Anglogold Ashanti has died in an accident, the mining company announced on Wednesday. It said in a statement in Accra that the accident involved an underground vehicle at the Obuasi underground mine. Anglogold Ashanti identified the victim as Mr Kwadwo Gido, an employee of MBC, the development contractors working for the Obuasi operation.

It said the accident had been reported to the Chief Inspector of Mines, adding that work in the section where the accident happened had been halted until further investigation into the cause had been carried out.
