Work progresses on 30-bed male-ward for Swedru hospital

Agona Swedru, Sept 2, GNA – Works is progressing on the 30- bed male-ward for the Agona Swedru Government hospital estimated at 85,000 dollars, a grant from the Japanese Government.

The project, which started three weeks ago and had reached the lintel level is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Dr Dzifa Damanya, Medical Superintendent in charge of the Hospital, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview. He commended the contractor Messrs Katanga Bass Constructi1on Firm for “the speed and excellent job within a short period.” Dr Damanya noted that the Project Implementation Committee chaired by the Saanahene of Agona Swedru, Nana Bedu Ehuren, would sit in a few weeks to approve another instalment of money for the project. He stated that the project financed by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) had three components, auditing, contracting and supplying.

Dr Damanya who is an ex-officio member of the Project Implementation Committee, stressed that the first auditing had been made to pave way for the release of the second amount of money. The Medical Superintendent stated that the Regional Health Directorate had spent about 400 million cedis for the renovation of the main ward used by both male and female patients. Mr Emmanuel Prah, the Contractor said the project could be completed by the ending of month if materials were supplied on the fast note, the project could be completed ending of this month. He assured the Management of the Hospital and the Chiefs that quality work would be executed to ensure early completion of the project.
