Work on water project progresses

Jachie (Ash), April 15, GNA- Work on the 4.6 billion cedis water project for Jachie and Pramso, twin towns in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district of Ashanti is progressing steadily and it is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, the District Chief Executive, who disclosed this, said the project when completed would solve the water problem in the two communities.

Addressing an Easter fund raising rally at Jachie on Sunday, he said the assembly had also completed work on 16 market stalls for the town, while work was progressing on the construction of a butcher’s shop.

He said the assembly recently assisted the Jachie Centre for the Disabled with five million cedis for the purchase of materials for craftwork.

Miss Doris Otoo, assemblywoman for Jachie said the town had embarked on a 600 million-cedi project, which involves the construction of drains, the tarring of the main streets and the construction of roads to newly developed sites.

She said in line with these projects therefore, resident citizens were paying 10,000 cedis a male and 5,000 cedis a female while non-resident citizens were also paying 50,000 cedis a man and 25,000 cedis a woman.

Baffour Amoateng III, Jachiehene called on citizens of the town staying abroad to endeavour to come home to support the development of the town.

An amount of 30 million cedis was realised at the fund raising.
