Work begins on Osu Library Complex

Accra, March 25, GNA – Work would soon begin on 450 million cedis Osu Community Library Complex in Accra.

The project is expected to serve about 3,766 pupils from 26 primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the area to improve on their reading habits.

The Reverend Victor Oko Abbey, District Pastor of the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, who cut the sod for commencement of work, said the Church noted for its role in education provided land for the project. He said the Church would also offer assistance to ensure its early completion for the benefit of the children.

Nii Adu Daku Mante, Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle Constituency, called on the people to establish a fund to finance the project.

He advised children to adopt good reading habits and determined to attain great heights.

Mr Adu Mante pledged five million cedis towards the project. Mr Eric Coleman, Assemblyman for Ringway Electoral Area, who initiated the project, said the Osu Community required a bigger library than the Osu Children’s library.

He said reading was the key to further learning to enable the youth to achieve greater heights in life.

Mr Coleman said many educational materials donated by individuals and institutions to the Osu Children’s Library had been locked up in a room due to lack of space.

He appealed to the people to donate generously towards the project. Mr Samuel Brown, Headmaster of the Salem Boarding JSS, appealed to teachers to endeavour to live up to expectation in their profession.
