Akyem Oda, Jan. 27, GNA – Ms Ophelia Koomson, Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has challenged the newly elected assembly members in the area to forget about their party affiliations and work as a team to move the municipality forward.
She reminded them of the non-partisan nature of the assembly and urged that they work in unity, to help the Government to achieve the “Better Ghana Agenda”.
Ms Koomson was interacting with a cross- section of the elected assembly members at her residence, at Akyem Oda, at the weekend.
She told them that their main goal should be development and that they would be required to assist revenue collectors in their work to help meet the needed levies targeted for the assembly.
The MCE told them to be united at all times and warned that anyone seen to be sabotaging government’s efforts on account of ones party affiliation does not deserve to be in the assembly.
Ms Koomson advised them to educate their communities on the several government interventions, aimed at making life easier for the rural dwellers.
She mentioned for instance, the intervention to make agricultural production attractive and to reduce the cost of expensive agricultural inputs for farmers.
“Another laudable intervention is the introduction of the Waybill system for farmers”.
Ms Koomson said under that system, government was absorbing all overhead costs connected with the supply and sale of fertilizers.
She implored the assembly members to educate farmers in their respective communities to ensure that they buy the fertilizers at the approved prices.
