Koforidua, July 18, GNA – The Deputy National Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ms Anita Desosoo, has called on Ghanaian women to vote for Professor Evans John Atta Mills to enable them to benefit from the 40 per cent cabinet positions and other political appointments he had promised them.
She called on women organizers of the NDC who stood a better chance of benefiting from such opportunity to work hard and ensure victory for the party at the December elections.
Ms Desosoo was speaking at a workshop organized for NDC constituency women organizers and their deputies in Koforidua on Thursday, which was under the theme “working together in partnership for victory 2008”.
She urged the women organizers of the party to mobilize all non-registered women in their constituencies and ensure that they were registered when the voters’ register was opened.
Ms Desosoo advised the women organizers not to wait for resources from national and regional secretariats before working but to mobilize local resources to embark on their activities.
Mr Anthony Gyampoh, Eastern Regional Secretary of the party called on women organizers of the party to exhibit good characters in their communities so that people would look up to them for direction.
Mr Bismarck Tawiah-Boateng, Eastern Regional Organizer of the party, called on constituency women organizers of the party to collaborate with the constituency youth and organizers to come out with programmes that would make the party strong. He said without unity, it would be difficult for the party to realize the victory that is “waiting for the party in December”. Mr Tawiah-Boateng called for total mobilization of women in the country to vote for the party and urged women organizers to be more strategic and tactical in their propaganda campaigns to get more women on board the “victory train” of the party.
Ms Evelyn Korang, Regional Women’s Organizer of the party in a welcoming address, explained that the aim of the workshop was to empower the women organizers of the party to extend their organizational skills to the branches of the party.
She called on the women organizers of the party to target women groups and female dominated organizations during their campaigns.
