Very Reverend Francis Benjamin Quashie, the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, has called on women to rise up to their responsibility and lead the transformation of the country.
He said the wide-spread corruption in all sectors of the society, dishonesty and increasing social vices, were indications of the inability of women to appreciate their influence on society and to use it to change society for the better.
Bishop Quashie was speaking at the opening of the 14th Biennial Conference of the Women’s Fellowship of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church at Kukurantumi.
He said God, in His own wisdom, gave women special influence on society and this was indicated by the role women played at various stages of the development of the church.
He, therefore, urged the Anglican Women’s Fellowship to unite and help develop the church and the country.
Dr Mrs Mercy Asamoah of the Cocoa Research Institute, Tafo, who was the guest speaker, called on women to forget about their past glories and frustrations and be agents of change in the church and the society.
She called on the fellowship to rise up to boldly lead in the reconstruction of the broken walls of society and the Anglican Church.
Ms Rebecca Ayisah, the Diocesan President of the Women’s Fellowship, called on Christian women to rise up and put the pieces together to serve the church and the nation.
She appealed for support to enable the fellowship to raise funds into its endowment fund to support needy children in the church.
Baafour Ohemeng Gyamera, the Krontihene of Kukurantumi, who chaired the function, called for unity among the women to support the development of the fellowship.
