Women Urged To Accept Leading Positions

Techiman (Brong Ahafo), 30 Oct.,

Women have been called upon to boldly accept leadership positions in their communities and refrain from exhibiting signs of inferiority complex. The call was made by Mrs. Grace Sarpong, Gender and Development officer of the Credit Union Association (CUA). She was addressing Ebenezer and Trinity women’s credit union association of the Methodist and Presbyterian churches respectively at Techiman yesterday. Mrs. Sarpong is on a tour of women’s credit unions to assess factors that prevent women from taking leadership positions and to help them cultivate the habit of saving. She noted that women appear to be too busy and therefore give flimsy excuses when leadership positions are entrusted to them. He regretted this “sad situation” and appealed to women to endeavour to rub shoulders with men.
