Women elected unopposed

Breman Asikuma (C/R), June 7, GNA – Mrs. Georgina Nkromah Aboah, 45, has been elected unopposed at Breman Asikuma as a parliamentary candidate for the NDC for the 2004 elections for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency.

Mrs Aboah, a graduate teacher was elected by a popular declaration at the primary by 200 delegates last Saturday.

Explaining the electoral procedure, the Returning Officer, Mr Bertino Stephen, who is the District Electoral Officer for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa said that as there was no contestant and no adverse report written against the candidate, the election was to be conducted by popular declaration.

All the 200 delegates confirmed the nomination by raising their hands.

Among those present at the primary were the NDC Central Regional chairman, Dr Ato-Quarshie and the deputy Regional Chairman, Mr Opoku Fofie.

Mrs Nkormah Aboah thanked the members for the confidence reposed in her and promised to help develop the district if she won the general election.
