Women, children flee Bonsuoko over indiscriminate shootings

Women and children have reportedly fled their homes in Awutu Bonsuoko, a suburb of Senya Breku with several of them seeking shelter in Awutu Senya, following the recent indiscriminate shootings which begun in the area Monday.

Five persons sustained serious gun shot injuries over a stand-off between suspected land guards and the youth of the town Monday. Gunshots continuous to be heard on Tuesday afternoon.

Locals say women and children who are the worst affected following the unfortunate incidence were seen on Monday evening trekking to Awutu Senya, a nearby town to seek refuge with friends and families.

Reports filed by Kasapa FM’s Benjamin Amuzu indicate that the community has become a ghost town as almost all activities have ceased with schools closed down.

According to him, the situation is quiet chaotic and could worsen, adding that the youth of the town are likely to launch a reprisal attack on the land guards.

There are no Police presence in the community currently, Kasapa FM reports say.

Some youth of the town who spoke to Kasapa 102.5 FM pleaded with government to hasten moves to resolve the wave of attacks by these land guards.
