Women asked to be conversant with laws

Ho, Jan.03, GNA – Mrs. Hilary Gbedemah, a legal practitioner, has appealed to women to be conversant with laws on gender issues and said ignorance of the law was making some women susceptible abuses. Mrs. Gbedemah was speaking to over 70 youths in Ho on gender based violence as part of the “16 Day Campaign on violence and gender issues” organized by ROZEE Foundation, a Ho based non-governmental organization.

Mrs. Gbedemah said many women were violently abused due to their physical weakness and their ignorance of their rights and the law. She said there was the need for NGOs and stakeholders on women issues to help educate women on their rights and responsibilities and empower them economically.

Madam Araba Techie-Menson, the Executive Director of Rozee Foundation, appealed to educated women not to relent in their efforts in educating less privileged ones on their rights. ” Let’s for once be each others keeper and stop being our own enemies”, she said.
