Gomoa Tarkwa (C/R), July 23, GNA – The National President of the Women Fellowship of the United Faith Tabernacle Church, Madam Awo Fuakye, has called on women to come together to fight the gender inequality in the country.
According to her, inequality is visible in the political and decision-making process of the country, adding, “Women are seriously disadvantaged and unlikely to be selected as leaders, especially, when competing with their male counterparts. Madam Fuakye made the call at a five-day national convention of the fellowship at Gomoa Tarkwa in the Central Region on Thursday. She stressed the promotion of better understanding among women to help uplift their own image and said that this needed a lot of commitment.
The National President said the church has put in place several poverty reduction interventions, to make the women self-sufficient and responsive to their needs.
These include the training in soap making, tie and dye, dressmaking, home management and marriage counselling. Preaching the sermon, the head pastor and founder of the church, Prophet Michael Nyarko Okyere, advised Christians to remain loyal and steadfast to the service of God.
He quoted Psalm 150, to explain the use of traditional drumming in the church and asked the congregation to embrace their doctrines to enable them serve the Lord as contained in the Holy Bible. 23 July 05
