Accra (Greater Accra Region) 13 October The Deputy Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Mr Kwesi Adu Amankwaah, has called on Ghanaian working women to invest in education to enable them to take over their social and economic responsibilities with confidence. He was speaking at the end of a five-day seminar for 25 women unionists organized by the TUC and American Centre for International Labour Solidarity in Accra on Saturday under the theme of ”Skills for effective leadership performance in trade union”. Mr Amankwaah urged women to play their part in nation building as role models and think positively by striving to look for more opportunities in leadership positions. He appealed to the participants to encourage more women to join the TUC to strengthen the labour movement. Mrs Veronica Ayikwei-Cofie, head of the Women’s Desk of the TUC, advised the participants to demonstrate effective leadership qualities in whatever they do. Mrs Fransisca Borkor Bortey, deputy head of the Women’s Desk, stressed the need to equip women with leadership skills.
