Woman remanded for causing the death of another woman.

Aflao, Oct 12, GNA – Elizabeth Francis, a 45-year old trader, on Friday appeared before an Aflao Circuit court charged with murdering Mansa Agblenyo, 48.

Her plea was not taken and was remanded to reappear on October 22. Police Inspector Kofi Frimpong of Aflao Police told the court that the deceased and the accused lived in the same neighbourhood at Avoeme, a suburb of Aflao.

He said the accused alleged that the deceased had collected 500 cedis from her with a promise to find her bucket that was missing but failed to find the item for two months. On September 30 the accused entered the deceased person’s house and sprayed pepper into her eyes.

The accused threw down the deceased who could not see due to the pepper solution, beat her and attempted to strangle her. Inspector Frimpong said a co-tenant who heard of the deceased person’s distress call rushed out and wrestled her from the accused. The deceased was taken to the Aflao District Hospital where she was treated and discharged but died the following day.
