Woman falls and dies at Hajj Village

An elderly woman, who was at the Hajj Village in Accra to escort a relative, lost her life on Sunday, August 28 as she was preparing to travel back to Kumasi.

Said to hail from Kumasi New Town, the woman, whose name has been given as Rukaiya, went to the washroom to clean herself but “slipped and fell in the process”.

According to a release from the Communications Directorate of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG), Rukaiya had seen off her relative, who was part of the ninth flight to Mecca from Ghana. The flight has since arrived in Medina.

She was pronounced dead by medical officers at the Village after examination.

Relatives were on hand to convey the body to Kumasi for Jaanazah ahead of burial scheduled for late Sunday.

“The death was shocking and unbelievable to many but from the perspective of Allah (SWT) it’s normal to every soul on earth when his or her time is due to depart this world regardless of location, place or time,” the release comforted.
