Woman dies as cargo truck knocks her down

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), March 25, GNA- Afua Monica, a 25-year-old woman of Wamanafo in the Dormaa District died on the spot when she was knocked down by a Mercedes Benz cargo truck in the town.

The truck, driven by Joseph Kwadwo Amoah and loaded with more than 400 bags of dried cocoa beans was travelling from Akaatiso in the Western Region to Sunyani when the incident occurred.

Superintendent Charles Samuel Moses Brew Jnr., District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency at Dormaa-Ahenkro that the incident occurred on March 17.

He said the truck was ascending a hill when the driver lost control and knocked down the woman and landed in a valley.

Superintendent Brew added that three passengers on the vehicle sustained injuries and were later admitted at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital.

The deceased was sent to the same hospital for autopsy, he said. Supt Brew said Police are investigating the matter.
