Woman commits suicide in her Rest House room

Winneba (C/R), Oct. 17, GNA – A 38-year-old women from Koforidua, who was lodging at the Army Rest House in Winneba, was found hanging dead on Friday October 14, in her room.

Mr Nicholas Gasu, Winneba District Police Commander, briefing the Ghana News Agency said, Police investigations has revealed that the women whose name was given as Mary Dugan arrived at the rest house on October 13, 2005, where she was given a room.

Mr Gasu said the rest house attendants not seeing the women the following day forced opened her room and found her handing dead. The police commander said Madam Dugan, who is slim, tall and black in complex tied a nylon rope to one of the iron bars in the window and used a chair in the room to hang herself.

According the Police Commander, no foul play is being suspected now, because according to the attendants nobody visited the women in her room.

He said Madam Dugan gave her address as Box 3048 Koforidua. The body had been deposited at the Winneba Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy and appealed to the relatives to contact the police for it, he said.

Meanwhile, police investigations continue.
