Woman charged for insulting DCE

Elmina (C/R), Aug. 16, GNA- A 29-year-old woman from Dominase near Komenda in the Central Region, was on Friday charged before a District Court at Elmina for allegedly insulting the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem District Chief Executive (DCE) and the Queenmother of the town.

The woman, a trader, whose name was given by the prosecution as Habiba, pleaded not guilty to offensive conduct and was granted five million cedis bail with one surety, to re-appear on September 2.

Police Chief Inspector Keyward Adjei told the court presided over by Mr. Kwame Ohene-Essel, that on August 6, this year, the chief of Dominase Nana Kwaw Baisie II, convened a meeting to brief his elders about the outcome of a trip he made outside the country.

He said the DCE, Nana Ato Arthur, was invited to the meeting and during his interaction with the chief, the DCE told the chief about how Habiba and some people came to his office to insult him without any provocation.

Nana Baisie, and the Queenmother, called Habiba’s husband, and told him to advise his wife against such behaviour, but the next morning, Habiba was overheard once again, insulting and cursing the Mr Arthur as well as the Queenmother. She was, therefore, reported to the police
