Woman burns baby

A heartless woman at Ntonso in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region, Maame Gyamfua, 43, has done the unthinkable by pouring fire on a six-month-old baby boy, causing severe body injuries to the baby.

The suspect was fighting with one Rebecca Dankwah aka Akos, the baby’s mother, and decided to vent her spleen on the innocent boy who was sitting alone on a veranda in the house where both feuding ladies stayed.

Maame Gyamfuah, reportedly put down a sauce pan containing soup which was on a coal pot full of fire. She then poured all the fire in the coal pot on the child whilst her mother was not present.

The severe body pains which the baby suffered forced him to wail uncontrollably, drawing people to the scene. The little baby was then rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

The case which occurred on Wednesday around 6:30pm was reported to the police.

Maame Gyamfuah was consequently arrested to assist police in their investigations.

Narrating the case to DAILY GUIDE, Asumadu Darkwah Sowah of Kessben FM, an eyewitness, said Maame Gyamfuah is the wife of the landlord in whose house Akos was rented a room.

On that fateful day, Sowah said, verbal exchanges ensued between Akos and Maame Gyamfuah after the latter accused the former of not locking one of the two main gates of the house after she had opened it.

In the course of the exchange of bitter words, Akos, who fried eggs for a living, entered her room, leaving her six-month-old baby boy alone on the veranda playing.

Sowah said Maame Gyamfuah in angry, took advantage of the situation and poured fire from a coal pot on the child.

He said the baby suffered severe facial, armpit and stomach bruises after the fire had been poured on him.

The little baby started crying at the top of his voice, drawing more people to the scene.

The boy was then rushed to hospital where he is currently on admission.

The dastardly case was then reported to the police who instantly nabbed the suspect for questioning.
