Woman breaks bond, sent to prison

Kade, May 20, GNA – The Kade Magistrate Court presided over by Mr Kwaku Baah Frempong on Wednesday sentenced Augustina Oparebea, who breached a bond the court, had ordered her to sign, to three months in prison.

Augustina, who was charged with offensive conduct and made to sign the bond to be of good behaviour for six months after she had insulted Mary Arthur, again quarrelled with her before the expiry date of the bond. As a result, she was arraigned before the court and made to abide by the bond term, by being sent to prison for three months. In the first case, Augustina on February 28 uttered certain abusive words to the annoyance of Mary. The prosecution said both Augustina and Mary were traders at Kade and for sometime now, Augustina operated a drinking bar in the house of Mary. As a result of series of quarrels between them, Augustina abandoned the drinking bar to curtail the frequent quarrels. On February 28, Augustina met Mary in the town and rained insults on her and was prosecuted as a result, made to sign a bond only to break it, resulting in her being sent to prison. 20 May 09
