Woman arrested for suspected impersonation

Akwatia, Aug. 18, GNA – Mariam Sulley, who attempted to vote at the AME Zion polling station using a false and duplicate ID card bearing the name of Yaa Boafoa, was on Tuesday arrested by the police. No sooner had the fraud been detected than the real owner arrived at the station to produce her ID card to vote.

The police told the GNA that when the suspected impersonator was questioned, she revealed that the ID card was given to her by a political party (name withheld) to vote.

A number of persons who were not registered voters and believed to be from outside Akwatia were driven away by security men at the Presby JHS polling station.

In another development, Mr Dan Botwe, Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere and Baba Yakubu, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Akwatia constituency chairman were withdrawn and replaced as polling agents when a group objected to their presence.
