Woman arrested for possessing cocaine

Accra, Nov. 19, GNA – Elizabeth Owusu Manu, aged 36 has been arrested at the Kotoka International Airport with 23 thumbsized pellets of cocaine. Elizabeth, who hails from Mampong in the Ashanti Region was arrested while attempting to board a flight to the US where she has been domiciled for 14 years as a housewife.
Security sources at the airport said Elizabeth claimed the pellets were given to her by one, Kwesi Ata Evans who lives at Maccarthy Hill in Accra.
They said further investigation led to the arrest of Evans, aged 36 who is a car dealer.
The sources said Kwesi Ata Evans claimed to have bought the drug from a Nigerian friend living in Lagos and sold it to Elizabeth at 7,500 dollars.
According to Evans, Elizabeth contacted him on phone from the US and asked him to find her some drugs, the sources said.
Both suspects are in police custody as investigations continue.
