Accra, March 28, GNA – The General Overseer, Pastors, Elders and other key members of the World Liberation Church International (WLCI) on Sunday, held a forum in Accra to resolve issues concerning the running of the Church and between members to ensure unity at the close of this year’s Easter Convention.
Some of the issues settled included the administration of the WLCI Pre-school Centre at Obuom in the Central Region and a peer review, which resulted in some of the members agreeing to put an end to social vices unworthy of a Christian and especially members of the Church. The Reverend Pastor Jonas Jones, the General Overseer of WLCI, pointed out that the work of God was sacrificial and charged the elders and members to help their Pastors and Elders to succeed.
He stressed the need for the Church members to support themselves both spiritually and materially to enable them to resist temptation and social vices that could drag their faith into disrepute. Preaching at an Easter Service earlier on the theme, “He is risen,” Rev Jonas Jones said Jesus Christ had to be crucified and buried to wash away the sins of mankind.
He said through the death of Jesus on the cross man gained salvation, explaining that, “but death could not hold him captive and he rose again to conquer death”.
Rev Jones said the significance of Easter was that just as Jesus conquered death and resurrected, man could overcome all trying circumstances and from defeat come out victorious.
The Reverend K Asiedu, Pastor in charge of Nsawam Area branches of the Church, called on Ghanaians especially Christians to have faith in God and to work hard, saying, “no matter the hardships that we are going through, our situation is not hopeless. We can rise above the waters to succeed”.
He called on the people to lead true Christian life to enable the country to achieve the socio-economic and political advancement that they were yearning for.
Rev Asiedu called on Ghanaians especially those in positions of trust to eschew bribery and corruption, which he attributed to greed and selfishness.
Reverend Emma Nartey, Head of the Women’s Ministry urged Christians to hold on fast to their faith and to see the Cross of Jesus and his resurrection as the symbol and basis of their salvation and liberation. She charged them to endeavour to set good example in the society to win more souls for Christ.
