Winneba undertakes clean-up exercise

Winneba, Feb. 16, GNA – The Effutu Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with civil society organisations in Winneba, on Saturday undertook a clean-up exercise in the municipality. They de-silted gutters, weeded over-grown areas and swept the streets.

The exercise, which was heavily patronised, started at 0600 hours and ended at 1100 hours, was led by Assembly Members of the various Electoral Areas and some heads of government institutions and establishments.

Those who took part in the exercise included assembly members, Heads of Departments, drivers, workers, civil society organisations, students and market women. They started from the Winneba Junction through Low Cost, the main market and ended at the office of the Assembly Block.

Mr. Matthew Quaison, District Coordinating Director, said the town had been divided into two and that the second phase of the programme would take place on February 17.
