Winneba (C/R), June 9, GNA – The Police at Winneba on Tuesday handed over a stolen Nissan Urvan Bus impounded last month to Mr Abrahim Kwadwo Tenadu of Akim Oda, found to be the rightful owner.
Mr Nicholas Gasu, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in charge of Winneba District told the Ghana News Agency that investigations had revealed that Mr Tenadu bought the vehicle from one Eric Agyeman of Koforidua, in December 2000.
ASP Gasu said Mr Tenadu parked the vehicle in front of his house on April 20 this year, at Akim Oda, but when he woke up the following morning and found that the vehicle was not there he reported to the police.
He said the Winneba Police Patrol Team on motor check duties at Okyereko on April 20, this year intercepted the vehicle with registration No. ER 95 R being driven by one Emmanuel Aidoo from Akotsi near Winneba, without any documents covering it.
Mr Gasu said the police impounded the vehicle and asked Aidoo to produce the documents but he failed to turn up.
He said following a report in the media on the stolen vehicle Mr Tenadu presented his documents covering it.
According to Mr Gasu, the Akim Oda Police confirmed that the vehicle belonged to Mr Tenadu.
