Winneba, May 27, GNA – Muslims Chiefs and opinion leaders in Winneba on Friday praised the government for fulfilling its promise to rehabilitate the Winneba-Junction-Kasoa portion of the Mallam-Yamoransa road on time.
They made the commendation at a meeting with their Assemblyman, Mr Kofi Taylor and the Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Paul E. Annan at Winneba. The meeting discussed plans to construct a new Junior Secondary School classroom block and other development projects for the Muslim community in Winneba.
Participants at the meeting, including former Assembly members for Winneba Abasraba/Zongo Electoral Area, also expressed their satisfaction at the credible performance of the current Assemblyman for the area, Mr Taylor and asked him to continue with his good works. They further expressed the hope that government would attach the same importance with which it completed the Winneba Junction-Kasoa portion of the Malam-Yamoransa road to the remaining Gomoa-Mprumem-Briwa stretch of the road to fulfil its vow.
Spokespersons at the meeting on behalf of the entire Muslim community pledged their support and co-operation to the government to enable it to implement all development projects designed to improve, not only the lot of Muslims in the area but the entire Effutu State. Mr Taylor assured Muslims that the government would do all within its power to implement the school and other development projects, meant to improve their lot, including the rehabilitation of roads in Muslim communitie.
On his part, Mr Annan said the government was aware of the role Muslims leaders in the country had been playing towards national development since it took over the administration of the country, and further pledged its determination to co-operate with them to ensure effective national cohesion and progress at all levels.
Mr Annan, who stood in for the Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze, appealed to Muslim leaders to assist the government in its efforts to curb indiscipline among the youth to ensure peace and stability.
Participants extended special request to the Regional Minister to pay a day’s working visit to Muslims in and around Winneba to personally discuss their problems with them.
