Women’s rights group – Women in Law and Development in Africa (WILDAF) – is criticising the acting General Secretary of the NPP John Boadu for arguing that the party lacks more competent women to take up leadership positions in government.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a news conference Monday explained an elaborate process had been initiated to invite entries from women to pick up positions in government from Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to ministerial appointments.
But speaking on GHOne News’ prime time news bulletin News Tonight, Programs Manager of WILDAF Frank Wilson Bodza explained the government of the day did not meticulously plan to follow through their promise of 30 percent women representation in government.
Mr. Bodza stressed that the Akufo-Addo-led administration had been presented a list of over 400 qualified women who can be picked to work in many government portfolios.
