WIG present items to Mental Hospital

Accra, June 16, GNA- Women in the Gap International Ministries (WIG), a non-denominational fellowship of women on Saturday presented items worth over six million cedis to the female inmates of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to better their standards of living. Items presented included bags of rice, gallons of oil, canned fish, toiletries, used clothing and shoes and detergents.

Evangelist (Mrs) Catherine Onwioduokit, Founding President of the Ministry said the presentation forms part of their social responsibility to the less privilege in the society.

She said, as the Ministry celebrates its 5th anniversary dubbed: “Gathering of the Jewels,” 2007 on the theme: “The Release of New Wine,” it was appropriate to extend a hand of help to the female inmates who mostly are victims of poor relationship and broken marriages. She said the Ministry serves as a ‘safe-heaven’ for women who are traumatized, hurting, betrayed, abandoned, feeling neglected, abused and above all women who are derided and spiritually defeated irrespective of their religious, social or economic inclination. Mrs. Onwioduokit noted that for so long most marriages had been endured instead of being enjoyed by both spouses which was not the purpose for its existence.

“There is pain, infidelity, unfaithfulness, unforgiveness, disillusion, deceit, misery, you name it in marriages, but this is not what it was intended to be. That is why WIG is committed to raising women whose lives are aligned to the word of God and are committed to praying for marriages that are not thriving and barely surviving to restore and revive.” she added.

Mrs Florence Sah Blagogee, Nursing Officer of the Psychiatric Hospital, on receiving the items said the inmates of the hospital go through a lot of emotional distress due to the lack of love and care given them by their family members and relations.

She called on all to extend love and care to the inmates of the hospital, which would help in their recovering process. She called on relations of inmates, philanthropies and organizations to come to the aid of the hospital to assist them in every way possible.
