Widow, 55, wins best farmer award in Atwima-Kwanwoma

A fifty-five year old widow and mother of four, Madam Akua Tiaa, from Nweneso Number-Two, on Friday emerged as the best farmer in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District.

She received a 21-inch television set, knapsack sprayer, radio set, piece of wax print, mist blower, a bicycle and certificate.

Eighteen others were also recognized for their unique performance in various fields of agriculture and were also presented with certificates, knapsack sprayers, pieces of wax print and radio sets.

Mr Anthony Nyame, District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the farmers for their hard work, dedication and commitment to feed the nation.

He gave the assurance that the government would continue to support the agriculture sector to enable it to create more jobs and ensure food security.

He appealed to the farmers to adopt modern farming practices to improve production.

Madam Tiaah called on the youth to engage themselves in farming as it had high returns.
