The Ghanaian Voice writes that former Finance Minister, Dr Kwesi Botchwey, who for 13 years held the economic reins of the country, has finally come out to tell the world why he quit the party and the government.
Dr Botchwey is reported as having stated during an Accra Joy FM radio programme, ‘Frontpage’, that his quitting the government was due to a number of reasons including emotional stress he went through as a minister, his ‘fight’ with President Rawlings and the sordid GNPC saga.
Also mentioned were his political future and the shifters of the levers of authority within the NDC.
The Voice says Dr Botchwey’s submissions “left no one in doubt as to the stress, the tension, the frustrations and the near nervous breakdown, he went through as one of the able lieutenants and principal ministers.”
Botchwey, the story indicated, took in shocks above what was bearable as was stated by him that, “I could not bear it anymore. I have no regrets for leaving the NDC. I have never missed the ministry a minute.”
