Delegates to the upcoming Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the Odododiodoo Constituency have been urged not to make the mistake in changing experienced, dedicated and hardworking executives.
Mr Samuel Armah, Constituency Organizer, who gave the advice an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday, said such executives seeking re-election should be assessed for their achievements, and their potentials to do more for the party to retain power in the 2016 elections, and not just the glamour to be called NDC Executives, for selfish reasons.
Mr Armah, a professional architect, recounted that he became the Deputy Constituency Organizer in the year 2,000, and said he worked in that role until 2004 when he regained the Odododiodoo seat.
He said he became the Organizer in 2005, following a bye-election in the Constituency, during which the then Organizer Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme emerged as the Member of Parliament.
Mr Armah said he was the Organizer when the NDC retained the seat in the 2008 elections.
“I was still part of the team that guaranteed power in 2012”, I am a proud participant of the organizational plans that had made Odododiodoo a safe seat for the NDC,” he said, adding that in each of these electoral victories, the margin between the NDC and the other parties increased. You know organization decides everything, he said.
Mr Armah said even though he did not talk much on platforms, his behind the scenes strategy worked.
In a related development, Miss Mavis Manuugbor, a Mathematics graduate, stressed her determination to ensure women’s empowerment to enable them to articulate their interests and concerns when retained.
She said it was about time women stood side by side with men in political, social and economic decision-making.
She pointed out that the role of women should not be confined to serving food and drinks at functions, and therefore urged the delegates to vote massively for her to retain her position to benefit from her contacts with some Non-governmental Organizations to acquire employable skills to improve their living standards and those of their families.
