Western Regional House of Chiefs receives ICT equipment

Sekondi, Aug. 24, GNA – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under its Local Governance and Decentralization Program (LOGODEP), on Wednesday presented Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment worth 13,000 dollars to the Western Regional House of Chiefs.

The ICT equipment, which comprises five computers, three printers and a copier, would aid in the day-to-day administration of the House of Chiefs.

Mr. Peter Fricker said as traditional authorities were custodians of the land there was the need for close collaboration to enhance the programme.

LOGODEP is a three-year programme in the Western Region funded by USAID to expand public participation in local governance, increase internally generated funds of targeted districts and achieve comprehensive development planning for districts.

Odeneho Gyapong Ababio, Paramount Chief of Sefwi-Bekwai Traditional Area who received the equipment on behalf of the House, expressed gratitude to the donors.

He said the equipment had come at opportune time when the House was undergoing major transformation to meet the current demand of the region.
