Western Region NPP Vets aspiring parliamentary candidates

Takoradi, Sept. 5, GNA- Fourteen parliamentary candidates contesting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in eight constituencies in the Western Region on Friday submitted themselves for vetting by a special committee of the party in Takoradi.

Mr Peter Mac-Manu, Regional Chairman of the party told newsmen before the vetting that the exercise was in accordance with the party’s constitution to ensure that candidates conform to basic constitutional requirements of the NPP.

The NPP regional chairman said the party will not impose any candidate on the electorate and will “listen to the voice of the people” because the party is poised to win all the eight seats in the next elections.

Mr Lord Commey, national executive member of the party, said the vetting committee will check the background of aspirants to ensure that they were eligible to hold office.
