Western Region has more men than women

Sekondi, Feb.15, GNA – The growth rate of the Western

Region reduced from 3.2 % in 2000 to 1.8 % in 2010,

according to the provisional results of the 2010 Population

and Housing Census, Nana Opoku, the Regional Statistician, told the GNA in an

interview. He said the region’s population of 2,325,597 in the census

included 1,149,908 females and this means the region has

more men than women. He said the population of the region in 2000 was 1,924,577

including 946,401 females and in 1984, the population

1,157,807 including 571,519 females. Nana Opoku said nobody had disputed the region’s

figures in the provisional results of the census.
