Western region Celebrates Women’s Week

Daboase (W/R) Mrs. Esther Lily Nkansah, Western Regional Minister, has said the Government is making efforts to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women. Women should take advantage of this and participate in the decision-making process at all levels, she said. She was speaking at the Regional launching of the women’s week celebration at Daboase during which she also launched “Adenkum”, a 15-page newsletter of the National Council on Women and Development. She said the occasion marks an important milestone in the efforts of the United Nations to bring Governments to the realisation that more need to be done to achieve gender balance through fashioning policies and programmes. She said it also provides a good opportunity to assess whether the Government has been able to provide equal opportunities for all members of the society to realise their full potential and be able to contribute their quota to the national development process.
