Inchaban (W/R), Oct. 28, GNA – Ms Theresa Dickens, Western Regional Girl-Child Education Coordinator of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has expressed concern about teenage marriages and said the practice is a draw back to the promotion education of the girl-child in the region.
She was speaking at an interaction with some junior high school pupils organized by the Regional Directorate of Girl-Child Unit of GES and the Regional Secretariat of the Department of Children to mark National Children’s Day at Inchaban in the Shama District. Ms Dickens said teenage parentage was not desirable and teenagers must be allowed to complete their education and acquire skills with which to earn a living before getting into marriage. She advised teenagers to exercise self-control and concentrate on their studies to enable them take up responsible positions in future. 29 Oct 08
