Western Naval Command holds open day

Sekondi, March.7 -GNA-Commander Samuel Wiredu Anim, Commanding Officer of Sekondi Naval Base, on Tuesday called for cordial relations between the military and civic society.

He was speaking to the press during a one-day open day of Western Naval Command at Sekondi.

Commander Anim said the military is in existence to protect people and property.

He said people must discard the notion that the military is unfriendly and brutalise the public.

Commander Anim said civilians should not fear the military, who are like other citizens.

He said the open day was to cement the existing relationship with the public.

Over 3,376 people visited the Western Naval Command during the open day and the visitors included school children and students from secondary and tertiary institutions and the Universities. The people visited exhibitions on weapons and Navy Uniforms as well as the Navy Traders Training School and other facilities. They were also taken on an hour sea trip on Naval Ships.
