Western Fire Service gets eight fire tenders

The Western Regional Office of the Ghana National Fire Service has received eight new fire tenders from the government to help in their operations.

Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, who presented the vehicles to the Regional Commander of Fire Service, said critical state institutions had not been spared in recent times by fire outbreaks.

He said fire fighting required that all necessary equipment were provided to ensure efficiency in the event of fire outbreak.

The Minister gave the assurance that the Government would continue to support the Service with tenders and auxiliary fire fighting equipment.

He said the Region, since the discovery of oil, had become an important destination for investors, adding, “It is, therefore, necessary that these resources are protected.”

Mr. Aidoo called on district assemblies in the Region to each put up a fire station in order to be supplied with fire fighting equipment.
