West Akyem Assembly Rehabilitates Schools

The West Akyem District Assembly in the Eastern Region has presented a quantity of building materials worth about ?600,000 for the rehabilitation of two schools at Osenase, which were hit by a recent rainstorm. The Local Authority Junior Secondary School received 20 bags of cement for moulding blocks for one classroom which was destroyed by the rainstorm. The Chairman of the Assembly’s Works Committee, Mr.. Charles Addy, who made the presentation, said the Assembly will send more cement, iron rods and workmen to rebuild the classroom block which is estimated to cost ?5 million. Mr.. Addy also presented a packet of roofing sheets to the Catholic Primary School. The Chairman of the School’s Management Committee, Mr.. Ernest Sintim, who received the items, thanked the Assembly for the prompt response to their appeal.
