We’re winning election petition case – Gloria Akuffo

Lead counsel for the petitioners in the ongoing Supreme Court case, Gloria Akuffo, has said they are confident of winning despite suggestions by lawyers of the respondents that their case is crumbling.

She said Dr Mahamudu Bawumia – contrary to claims that he has varied the number of reported irregularities in the 2012 elections – has been very consistent with his testimony so far.

Under cross examination to reconcile numbers on the pink sheets, Dr. Bawumia admitted that different exhibit numbers had been assigned to same polling stations but maintained that was never used in the eventual analysis.

Lawyers for respondents on this basis accused him of being inconsistent with his testimony.

But discounting those claims, Gloria Akuffo told journalists the principal witness emphatically indicated “there has been no double counting whatsoever”.

“We are on very firm grounds, we are not shaking in our evidence,” she claimed, adding that “…We are comfortable with what we have done so far and … we are on the way to winning our case.”
