Wenchi district achieves success in immunisation programme

Wenchi (B/A) Jan. 9, GNA – The three-day Polio Immunization round four in Wenchi District has ended with the immunisation of 23,795 children from birth to five years.

Dr. Peter Asare, district director of health services told newsmen that the coverage was 111.2 per cent of the target of 21,401. He disclosed that the district received 1200 vials doses of oral Polio Vaccine costing 36.2 million cedis from the Regional Health Directorate.

Dr. Asare commended the District Assembly, decentralized departments, Ghana Education Service, National Disaster Management Organisation and Wenchi Methodist Hospital for supporting the programme with vehicles and other resources. He said 178 volunteers, 11 team supervisors, four sub-district coordinators and eight district supervisors were involved in the exercise.

The district director commended the team and the volunteers for their hard work, which enabled them to exceed the target.
