We’ll welcome back remorseful executives – Minority Leader

Members of every organisation, political parties inclusive, must abide by the rules and regulations of such bodies, violation of which must attract sanctions to restore discipline, Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has said.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended some executives, notably Chairman Paul Afoko, General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, and First Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe for actions deemed injurious to the chances of the party and its flag bearer in the 2016 elections.

Just like those executives, the party has also suspended the Suame constituency chairman, Kennedy Marfo. Reports suggest the chairman was suspended because he refused to comply with a strategy the party was taking in the region with regards to the upcoming polls.

Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Suame, answering a question in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on whether or not the suspensions in the party would affect the chances of the NPP in the elections, said what was important at the moment was to ensure discipline within the party.

“There are rules in every organisation. Within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) they have also suspended some of their executives. There should be discipline in the party. Every party has rules and regulations that all members must follow. If a member violates these rules, sanctions must be applied. If he or she shows remorse, that person should be welcomed back.”
