Welder sentenced three years for stealing

A 20-year old welder, Latif Mohammed was on Friday sentenced to a three-year imprisonment for unlawful entry and stealing by a Takoradi Circuit Court.

He pleaded not guilty but after the trial, the court found him culpable to the offences.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Seth Ahelegbe told the court that the complainant is a restaurant operator whilst the convict is a welder both residence in Takoradi.

He said on January 25, this year, at about 0300 hours, Mohammed broke into the complainant’s restaurant through the roofing and stole some assorted beverages and a cash sum of GHc500.

The prosecutor said the convict was spotted by one of the workers of the restaurant, who raised the alarm that caused his arrest.

He admitted the offence in his caution statement, arraigned before the court and prosecuted.
