Tema, Dec 5, GNA – A 36-year-old welder and father of four, Mr Yaw Darko, on Wednesday night committed suicide by hanging himself in his bedroom at Tema. His apprentice, Mr Kwabena Ebo, told the Ghana News Agency at the scene that on Wednesday night Mr Darko, who had been ill for the past two weeks with malaria, and his wife Theresa left the house for an all-night service.
On the way Mr Darko rescinded his decision and returned home while the wife went for the service. Theresa returned from the service to find her husband hanging on a nylon rope attached to the ceiling while the four children, were asleep in the same room.
Police Inspector Olivia Turkson, Tema Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and said the body had been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary. 05 Dec 08
