Weekend fires vindicate Mahama’s arson claims – Murtala

A Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations, Murtala Mohammed says the fire outbreaks over the weekend has confirmed President Mahama’s arson stance.

A three-month-old baby was burnt to death in a wooden structure at the Odawna Market near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra on Sunday evening.

The boy was said to have been left to sleep in the candle lit structure while his mother went out to buy diapers.

Another fire at Nungua early Sunday claimed the life of a two-year-old boy and his mother, when the wooden structure in which they were sleeping caught fire.

Over 30 stalls were also destroyed in another fire outbreak at the Kumasi Central Market on Sunday dawn, while a one million dollar 5-bedroom mansion was also destroyed by fire at the plush Trasaaco estates.

Speaking to reporters at the Flagstaff House on Monday, Hon. Murtala Mohammed stated that the fire outbreaks over the weekend clearly indicate that what is happening is not ordinary.

He, however, assured market women of the Kumasi Central market whose stalls were gutted that they will benefit from the GH¢2 million fund set up by government.
