We won’t let you harm us – Operation Vanguard to illegal miners

The Public Relations Officer of the Operation Vanguard Task force, has warned all illegal miners to immediately vacate their place of operation, or face the consequences thereof.

His warning follows the killing of an illegal miner at Wawase Obuasi in the Ashanti Region who was shot dead Sunday evening.

This happened after a clash between the anti-illegal mining Taskforce constituted by a Military/Police team (Operation Vanguard) and illegal miners in the notorious galamsey town.

The anti-galamsey taskforce has been set up by the presidency to stop illegal small-scale mining nationwide.

Major Pabi cautioned the galamseyers not to stand in the way of the taskforce in their operation within the mining sites, adding they have the right to defend themselves in the event of any face-off with them.

“The advice I will like to give to galamseyers is leave the galamsey sites; carry your equipment and leave the place. We are here to ensure that galamsey is stopped. Don’t try to resist us, don’t try to fire at us, don’t throw stones at us because we are carrying arms, we’ll not keep quiet, we’ll not leave ourselves for you to injure us. We’ll resist and then it will not be good for you, and it will not be good for our operation”
