We will not call off strike – Nurses

The Community Health Nurses Association says their strike continues unabated until officials address their grievances.

Over 13,000 nurses of the CHNAG declared a nationwide indefinite strike, earlier in the week over concerns on their certificates.

They’re fighting for a change in their job description from nurse assistants – prevention to community Health nurses.

The association earlier threatened to seek legal remedies against the position by Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The President of the association, Mrs Esther Frimpomaa Bamfo amidst threats by officials for them to call off their strike said the association will not kowtow to pressure mounted by the GHS, insisting that they will not call off the strike until they have reached a middle ground with officials over their grievances.

“Unless we get what we want or maybe we go to the table and what they tell us we agree to that, we’re not ready to call it off now-we’ll work within the law.”
