The Assembly Members of the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly held a press conference against the Onion sellers to occupy a land which belongs to the Kwadaso Assembly.
The presiding member of the Kwadaso constituency Assembly Hon. Eric Frimpong who led the Assembly Members told the media that it is alleged that all these problems between the Onion sellers and the Assembly, there is a Man who is behind the Onion sellers who is the interior minister of Ghana Honorable Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.
They are pleading with Honorable Muntaka not to involve himself in the issues in Kwadaso because he is a member of parliament in Kwadaso.
According to the Presiding Member, if the Interior Minister needs peace and stability in the Kwadaso constituency, he should not involve himself in this issue.
They are calling the MCE and other stakeholders to come and intervene to solve this issue once and for all so that peace and development will be the first priority to the constituency.
Honorable Eric Asibey, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer, also stated that the Assembly has met with the leaders of the Onion sellers regarding the land, to collaborate on resolving the issues of accidents that frequently occur at the market when Onion trucks arrive, and the sanitation concerns that must be addressed before they are permitted to work there.
According to the MCE, the assembly is unaware of the onion sellers’ activities because they were relocated to Atwima Takyiman to continue their business. The land has been vacant for over 10 months, so he cannot unilaterally permit them to sell onions there.
Kwadaso NDC Chairman, Mr Issah Moro expressed this dissatisfaction with what the Assembly is doing to the Onion sellers.
